These are all symptoms of an aging battery that requires replacement. As it ages, it starts swelling and pressing on the underside of the trackpad. This affects the performance of both clicking and cursor movement.

Starting in 2015 Apple started gluing their parts into place. We can remove it with isopropyl alcohol and acetone and replace it with a third party battery. However, it requires 2 hours of labor plus the part. Some customers choose to go ahead with the replacement whereas others choose to invest that cost into a new(er) machine.
